Performing Arts Band Vision
The Arvida Middle School Performing Arts Band Magnet is dedicated to nurturing young musicians and well-rounded individuals. Our program focuses on Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion instruments, offering students a variety of performance opportunities both within our school and throughout the community, including exciting trips. Beyond musical excellence, students will develop essential character traits such as hard work, teamwork, and responsibility, preparing them for success both on and off the stage. Band Magnet Audition
Experience on an instrument is NOT required.
Auditions will consist of the following:
- Performance of a prepared selection– Students are to perform a piece of their choosing either on an instrument (woodwind, brass, percussion, piano, guitar, recorder) or vocally. Students must bring their own instrument, with the exception of piano and percussion instruments.
- Aural pitch matching- Involves reproducing a musical pitch accurately. Students will hear a pitch and try to sing it back accurately.
- Interview- Students will participate in a brief interview to gauge their interest level.
Academic Requirements:
- A minimum of 2.0 grade point average in each academic subject (Mathematics, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies) as well as conduct for the previous year and the first grading period of the current year combined.
- Effort grades must be 1’s and 2’s.
- No more than 10 unexcused absences for the previous year and 5 unexcused absences for the current year.
